The 'home' screen of the XPERIA X1 is a customizable panel interface with a total of nine panels displayed simultaneously.
• Navigation
Users of the device are able to navigate using the QWERTY keyboard as well as a 4-direction navigation key and an optical joystick.
• Arc slider design
Building on the theme of tilted slide-out QWERTY keyboards, as seen on such devices as the HTC TyTN II, the X1 slides out on a curved fixture.
• Handwriting Recognition
The X1 has handwriting recognition similar to the Graffiti input used by Palm OS. A stylus is used to hand write text.
• Push email
Similar to the speed at which email arrives on less mobile platforms, such as desktop computers, Sony is marketing the 'push to device' feature which acquires new email quickly, as opposed to the manual process of email downloading on most smartphones.
• RSS Feeds
The XPERIA X1 features an integrated aggregator for viewing favourite news, blog, and podcast updates.
• Bluetooth Stereo Profile
The device is reported to house the A2DP standard for high-fidelity audio streaming between handset and Bluetooth headsets and audio devices.
• Wireless LAN
The X1 allegedly has been outfitted with Wireless LAN-support, as an alternative to the 3G HSDPA-protocol, allowing users to make use of Wi-Fi connectivity for data transfer.
